Feb 25, 2025Overview of Peruvian Lemon Exports
In 2024, Peruvian lemon exports saw a 27% increase, reaching a volume of 76,752.7 tons. Fresh fruit comprised the majority of shipments (51.9%), followed by dehydrated lemon peel and lemon juice. The United States was the primary market, absorbing 35.3% of exports. Analyst Heber Chávez noted that 126 companies participated in these exports, with Multifoods SAC and Limones Piuranos SAC leading the way. While small and medium-sized farmers cultivate lemons in regions like Piura and Lambayeque, small farmers often face challenges in achieving profitability due to limited access to technology and financing.
