The 2024/2025 blueberry season was a record, but the next one could be even better
Feb 25, 2025Agreement Reached for the Export of Peruvian Blueberries to the Bolivian Market
Peruvian blueberry producers are expanding their market reach thanks to a new phytosanitary protocol. The agreement, signed by Senasa (Peru) and Senasag (Bolivia), allows for the export of fresh fruit to Bolivia, opening access to over 12 million potential consumers. This achievement follows rigorous phytosanitary controls and surveillance by Senasa, ensuring high-quality agricultural exports meet international standards. Shipments must be accompanied by an official Phytosanitary Certificate. This agreement builds on Peru's success as a leading global exporter of blueberries, also known as "Peruvian Blue Gold." In 2024, Peru exported over 324,000 tons of blueberries, primarily to the US, Netherlands, and China. The agreement with Bolivia also strengthens bilateral agricultural trade, paving the way for potential agreements on other products.
