Feb 25, 2025New Agrarian Law Will Strengthen Peruvian Agro-exports
The Association of Exporters (ADEX) announced a new Agrarian Promotion Law to bolster the Peruvian economy alongside initiatives like private Special Economic Zones and a maintained 3% Drawback rate. ADEX President, Julio Pérez Alván, emphasized the previous Agrarian Law's success in creating jobs and transforming barren landscapes into thriving agricultural regions. While Peruvian agro-exports are projected to reach US$13 billion this year, a moderate 5% growth rate compared to 2024's 21.4% highlights the new law's importance in strengthening the sector. Pérez Alván confirmed government support for these measures, citing a meeting with key ministry officials and industry representatives. He also addressed challenges like adverse weather conditions impacting production and logistics, underscoring the need for preventative measures. To further support the agricultural sector, ADEX will host the 23rd Agro-export Lunch, connecting international buyers, businesses, and authorities to foster networking and knowledge sharing. The event will also feature the 'La Chaquitaclla Agroexportadora' award, recognizing outstanding contributions to the industry.
